Waste Sorting - Items starting with I/i

Our recycling bins are being collected next week, so let’s sort things beginning with the letter I / i!

Icecream Packaging

Icecream boxes or containers (plastic or cardboard) can go in your recycling bin so long as they’re clean and empty.

Remember that any cardboard boxes should be flattened and cleaned before going in your recycling bin. Keep in mind that if there are small loose paper/cardboard materials such as shredded paper, it may be better to dispose of it in your FOGO (Food Organics Garden Organics) bin - you might also consider using it in composting!

Inflatables (large and small)

Small inflatable objects such as pool toys or small mattresses should go in your general waste bin.

A large inflatable object is not suitable for your kerbside bin, and should be taken to you local waste management facility or a Drop-off Point.

Insecticides

Insecticides are classified as Household Hazardous Waste (HHW), and must be disposed of at a HHW Drop-off Point.

The nearest HHW Drop-off Point is the Stanley Road Waste Management Facility in Bunbury. A lot of waste items that can only be disposed of at a Drop-off Point are accepted free of charge at this location. You can learn more on the Bunbury Harvey Regional Council (BHRC) website linked below.
