Dog Registration Information

This information applies to all dog registrations, whether you have a new 4-legged friend or transferring from a different local government.

Before registering your dog, please take some time to review the following to ensure that you have everything you need – without the following, we will not be able to process your registration:

  • All dogs over the age of three (3) months must be registered. Registrations are renewed from 1 November annually, with registration period available for one (1) year, three (3) years, or the lifetime of the dog.
  • Microchip documentation is mandatory – without it, we cannot process your registration.
  • If your dog is sterilised, Proof of Sterilisation is mandatory – without it, we cannot process your registration correctly.
  • If your dog is a working dog (for agricultural or industrial purposes), a Statutory Declaration is mandatory. You can use this Statutory Declaration form (link to WA Gov form).
  • If you would like to register your dog with concession, a valid Pensioner Concession Card must be shown when making your submission.
  • All dangerous dogs, which includes restricted breeds, dogs declared dangerous, and commercial security dogs, must be declared upon registration.
  • All areas of the Dog Registration Form must be completed, which includes providing an Emergency Contact.
  • If there are any changes to particular details contained in your dog registration (including sale of the animal, change of ownership, death, or becoming sterilised) you must inform the Shire Administration Office within 7 days so that your file can be updated.
