Providing Community Housing through the Social Housing Economic Recovery Package (SHERP): Refurbishment of the Minninup Cottages and Langley Villas
The Donnybrook Balingup Aged Homes Committee identified a need to provide affordable housing for aged pensioners in our community to cater for independent living on a limited income. The committee steered the development of this housing project which, over time, saw the development of two unit complexes; Minninup Cottages and Langley Villas. Accommodation for the Elderly
In January 2022, the Shire was successful in its application for funding under the Social Housing Economic Recovery Package (SHERP) Grants program. $2.8m was distributed by the Department of Communities through the SHERP.

The general scope of works to be undertaken is as follows:
Internal works:
- Bathrooms
- Bedrooms
- Kitchens
- Laundries
- Entries and exits
- Paint
- Flooring and window treatments
External works:
- Pathways
- Lighting
- Parking
- Landscaping
