Waste Sorting - Items starting with "F"

Let's keep the conversation going about waste sorting - next we're looking with things that begin with the letter F!

Furniture & Fire Extinguishers

Our local waste management facilities in Donnybrook and Balingup accept furniture items - you can learn more about costs and how it all works on our Waste Services & Management page.

An empty fire extinguisher needs to go to a Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Point for disposal (free of charge).

Food Cans & Fruit Juice Cartons

If a food can is clean and empty, it can go in the recycling bin.

Fruit juice cartons depend on if there is any silver lining inside of the carton. If the carton is not silver lined and is empty, it can go in the recycling bin. If it does have silver lining, it needs to go in the general waste bin.

Flowers, Feathers and Fertiliser (oh my!)

Flowers and feathers go into your FOGO (Food Organics Garden Organics) bin. Despite being a part of garden waste, fertiliser should be disposed of at a Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Point. If the amount you're disposing is less than 20L/kg of non-commercial materials and their containers, it can be disposed of free of charge at one of these Points.
