The Donnybrook Historical Society was presented with a $500 cheque from the Shire of Donnybrook Balingup for their help and support in developing the award-winning Goods Shed and Station Square precinct.

In 2021, the Shire won the General Appearance Award at the Keep Australia Beautiful Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards for the redevelopment of the Station Square precinct, which includes the Donnybrook Goods Shed Heritage Interpretative Centre.

As part of this award, the Shire received $500 in prize money, which the Shire was more than happy to donate to the Donnybrook Historical Society, who provided invaluable assistance, advice and artefacts for the precinct.

Shire President Leanne Wringe says, “the fabric of our Shire is made up of community groups – they’re what keep our towns alive, diverse, and thriving. The Donnybrook Historical Society played a major role in advising the Shire on the development of this wonderful site. We’re excited to work with them on future asset rehabilitation projects that are historically sensitive, and hope this donation symbolises our appreciation of their ongoing dedication and hard work.”

The cheque presentation was attended by Shire President Cr Leanne Wringe, Shire Principal Projects Manager Shawn Lombard, Donnybrook Historical Society President Steve Dilley, and Donnybrook Historical Society Secretary Kerrie Downes.
