Designated Firewood Collection Areas

The latest advice from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) Parks and Wildlife Service is that, although you don't need a permit or authority to collect firewood in the southwest, it is only allowed in designated areas.

If the designated collection area falls within a Phytophthora dieback Disease Risk Area (DRA), an approval to enter will be required, which you can arrange with your local DBCA office.

For us, our area is the Blackwood District, with an office located in Busselton. You can contact them via (08) 9752 5555, or find them at 14 Queen Street, Busselton, 6280.
