Media Release: Community Assistance for Vandalism

Published on Wednesday, 26 March 2025 at 4:30:00 PM

As shared by the Donnybrook Police earlier in March, the Shire of Donnybrook Balingup is calling on the community to help identify and prosecute those responsible for recent graffiti on public assets.

"The recent graffiti incidents are incredibly disappointing. They cause disruption to our public spaces and create an unpleasant environment – it’s very disheartening to see, especially when art and creativity are core parts of our community,” said Shire President Vivienne MacCarthy.

When making reports to the Shire, many residents have expressed their disappointment and agreed that the vandalism is unacceptable. “We all appreciate the various and unique styles our local artists use when creating their work, and an incredible range of street art is featured in many of our towns,” said President MacCarthy. “However, vandalism is not the way to showcase creativity. Additionally, the removal of graffiti and repairs to any damages caused by it cost both time and money, which I’m certain our community would prefer to see used elsewhere."
