The following information comes from Multilingual Australia (previously known as Bilingual Families Perth). They are a not-for-profit organisation that has supports families from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Their mission is to identify and address the needs of children, parents, and grandparents of non-English speaking backgrounds in relation to the maintenance and usage of languages other than English at home.

About WA Language Week 2024

Western Australia boasts more than 240 spoken languages and dialects - a testament to our vibrant cultural diversity and the global interconnectedness we enjoy today. Language learning, linguistic diversity, and multilingualism are more than just aspects of our identity; they open doors to broader personal, social, cultural, and employment opportunities.

​This year, WA Language Week takes place from 4 - 10 August, 2024. During this week, there are a wide range of events that you can attend in person or online, to celebrate and learn about language, culture, and identity.
